Natural and Organic Skin Care
There's lots to know about organic and natural skin care, here's our latest installment.
Reasons to check your labels
Protect your kids
Kids are exposed to chemicals that pose potential health risks from cosmetic and skin care products. Environmental Working Group (EWG) can help you identify products that aren’t safe for kids and babies. Phthalates, triclosan, parabens, and musks, for example, are linked to potential hormone disruption and cancer in adolescent girls. You know that baby bubble bath that smells so good? There’s no telling what’s in that fragrance, because companies don’t have to list those ingredients. Fragrance is protected by trade secret law.
Protect yourself
Fragrance and other ingredients are harmful to you, too. Also watch out for petroleum products because they can have cancer causing impurities, and can be in your lip balm, body lotion, facial cleanser, and other products. Anti-aging facial lotions can have heavy metals and other harmful ingredients.
